Following the success of the Tech Rocketship Awards, the Department for International Trade, in cooperation with Startup Disrupt and Supreme Factory, is inviting you to a virtual Tech event to discover the UK’s burgeoning tech scene and how to tap into fresh capital in 2021 to scale your business there. The UK Tech Landscape Post EU Exit event will take place virtually on 4 March at 10 am CET and will be open to startups, scale-ups or technology companies from Europe.
You can look forward to hearing from Conor McGurk (DIT Regional Director and Europe Technology Lead), a keynote speech by Dr. Chris Moore (Technology Specialist, DIT), two panel discussions on “Navigating the new landscape: What are the opportunities & challenges for setting up and operating in the UK?” and “Tech investments and raising funds in the UK”, moderated by Petar Savic.
Lastly, the event will finish off with a fireside chat with Cera Care, moderated by Michael Jacobsen. Join us for a lively discussion on scaling your tech business in the UK and on how tech innovators are finding their feet in the new business landscape.

Speakers
Dr. Chris Moore (Technology Specialist, Department for International Trade)
Chris is a Technology Sector Specialist at the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT), working in the Technology and Smart Cities Team. In this role, he assists technology companies to establish a presence in the UK, and UK tech companies to do trade overseas. Chris covers the Software sector, with interests in artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing, data centres, and cyber security. He has also been engaged with the development of the UK Government’s AI Sector deal, working closely with the Office for AI.
Prior to this role, he spent nearly two years working in the Tech City Investment Organisation, where he assisted technology companies based outside of the UK to set-up in London’s Tech City (Silicon Roundabout). Chris was also the Programme Architect for the Global Graduate Entrepreneurs (Sirius) Programme, which brought global entrepreneurial talent to set up new businesses in the UK.
Chris has over 25 years industry experience in research, technology development management, manufacturing and marketing in the USA and Europe. He has experience covering knowledge transfer, innovation, Intellectual Property assessment, engagement with early-stage companies, the VC community and developing routes to market.
Julian Davis (Senior Migration Policy Adviser, Department for International Trade)
Julian is a visa and migration specialist with experience which ranges from guiding early-stage start-up businesses to navigate the UK visa system and bring their business into the UK, to supporting global multi-national companies to retain and access the talent they need from overseas.
Anthony Sheehan (Founder, Hoverworks)
Anthony Sheehan is a UK-based serial entrepreneur and angel investor. He currently runs Hoverworks, working with the ambulance service to develop a drone system to deliver defibrillators to cardiac arrest emergencies. Prior to this he founded news media analytics platform Near You Now and had a 15-year career launching & leading US-based technology businesses in Europe. Anthony has been a dealmaker on the UK Government’s Global Entrepreneur Programme for the past 7 years supporting over 30 international founders to relocate and grow their businesses in the UK.
Marek Sacha (Co-Founder, Cera Care)
The former McKinsey consultant joined XOM Materials after co-founding and leading Cera Care, the UK digital healthcare platform which won the Healthcare Startup of the Year 2016 award. Marek also cofounded and led the Czech company Rohlik.cz. He was named one of the Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2016.
Monik Pham (Investor & Advisor, Soho Ventures)
Monik has 10 years’ experience working with founders and investors. She previously raised and managed three funds and worked closely with 20+ portfolio companies to position them for international scale. Prior to VC, she was part of the founding team of a foreign direct investment firm in London. She is an angel investor and enjoys all things marketplaces and software. Monik is also an avid MMA fan.
Emiliano Ramos (Partner, EmergingEurope)
Emiliano Ramos is currently working as a senior partner at Emerging Europe, a London-based news, intelligence and community platform. The mission is to foster sustainable, innovation-driven and inclusive growth in the emerging Europe region. Emiliano is as well a group lead at Tech Emerging Europe Advocates, part of Global Tech Advocates (GTA), the world’s only global tech community.
Emma MacRae (Lead Investment Director, Fortunis Venture Capital)
Emma has extensive experience in product development, commercialisation, operational management, marketing, and investments in the SME sector. She has a passion for innovation, Impact Investing and the progression and development of new innovative businesses & concepts. Her experience and leadership have transformed multiple companies and Emma now brings that to bear in her role as a Lead Investment Director in Fortunis Venture Capital, and as the nominated CEO for our forthcoming Innovation Alternative Investment Fund. Fortunis Capital are one of the UK’s largest Impact Investment funds, as well as a UK Home Office Endorsing Body which enables Global deal flow to seek and find the brightest stars of Innovation and relocate them to the UK.
