You are welcome to join the Czech & Slovak edition of the UK Tech Rocketship Awards of the Department for International Trade. We are pleased to be the partners of this event of the British Embassy in Prague and in Bratislava.
On 24 November, we will stream the local event featuring leading Czech and Slovak tech startups, which will compete to get to the European round to win a tailor-made programme connecting them with the UK’s superb tech ecosystem, including venture capital firms, in-market advisers, customers, and forward-thinking support networks. You can also look forward to a panel of excellent judges – Michael Jacobsen (Business Coach, Author, Entrepreneur and judge of the Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Awards), Petra Dzurovcinova (Chief Innovation Officer, City of Bratislava), Jaroslav Trojan (Managing Partner, Nation 1) and Tony Kypreos (Dealmaker, Global Entrepreneur Programme)!

Speakers
Michale Jacobsen (Judge, Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Awards)
Michael is active as an entrepreneur in entertainment & leisure property and holds investments in technology companies.
He has delivered programs for many large corporations in addition to being a formal Advisor to the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic during their recent European Union Presidency, has advised government agencies in the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, and the UK. As an entrepreneur, he Co-founded an entertainment and leisure property empire that owned the international Intellectual property rights to produce the household name brand of Dirty Dancing on stage. He developed, owned, or operated many of the world’s leading entertainment and leisure properties (arenas, convention centers, and theatres). Some of these assets have been sold, and he is currently building a new leisure property company, which he founded in 2016, based in Europe.
Michael acts as a Non-Executive Director to Boards, has delivered lectures at London Metropolitan University, University of Westminster and Central Middlesex University London, and is a Judge of the esteemed Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Petra Dzurovcinova (Chief Innovation Officer, City of Bratislava)
Petra is currently the first Chief Innovation Officer in Bratislava. As part of her role she is responsible for preparing the innovation strategy for the city, create a network of stakeholders from academic, business and civic sectors, lay the ground for the Living Lab and new digital services for citizens. She has business business background, she previously run her startup Freya Care and helped companies with business development, marketing strategies and innovation efforts. Petra was the founding Executive Manager at the Slovak Alliance for Innovation Economy (SAPIE), a policy advocacy body and an association of over 75 innovative companies in Slovakia including Facebook, Google, ESET, Pixel Federation and other notable companies. She was responsible for setting the strategic vision, recruiting members and building networks among policy makers in Slovakia and on the EU level. She is also a co-author of the V4 Startup Report and Titans of Tomorrow: Slovak Scaleup Report. Prior her return to Slovakia she worked as the Digital Communications Manager at the Royal Institution of Australia in Adelaide. She was also co-organiser and licensee of various TEDx events in Adelaide and Bratislava.
Jaroslav Trojan (Managing Partner, Nation 1)
Jaroslav has been working on the Central European startup scene as a venture capital investor for more than 10 years. During that time, he co-realized 30 startup investments for more than 500 million Czech crowns, including for example Daytrip, Snuggs, and Uget. It also has 7 investment exits, the most successful of which is Cognitive Security, which was bought by CISCO. Jaroslav was a founding employee in the venture capital company Credo Ventures. He recently launched a new VC fund, Nation 1, from which he invests in other promising startups. Among other things, he worked as a mentor in the startup accelerators Seedcamp, Wayra, and StartupYard. The investment focuses mainly on technology sectors. Jaroslav graduated from Liberty University in the United States and is a passionate athlete.
Tony Kypreos (Dealmaker, Global Entrepreneur Programme)
Tony is an entrepreneur, corporate innovator and angel investor with over 25 years of leadership experience. He is an authority on start-ups,
corporate venturing, building high performing teams and business development. He is especially focussed on building high-value, technology enabled
Health, Environmental & Sustainable Development impact driven organisations.
Currently a Board Member & Venture Partner of UNDP, International Trade Centre & Pfizer backed sustainability venture accelerator Accelerate2030
in Geneva that scales the impact of companies aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and a Board Advisor at Geneva Macro Labs. As a
Dealmaker with UK Department of International Trade, Global Entrepreneur Programme he scouts and mentors the world’s highest potential
emerging technology start-ups in Healthcare, EdTech, sustainability and CleanTech.
He is active in research and academia and is a visiting lecturer and mentor at the University of Cambridge; Judge Business School, Entrepreneurship
Centre, University of Cambridge; Institute for Manufacturing, INSEAD and the University of Cairo with a focus on emerging technologies and
sustainability.
